Mosaic strict character progression
- Have an idea what goals you want to encourage in your game.
- Get a notebook, the larger the page size the longer it will take for characters to progress again.
- At the end of each session ask your players what progress they made. The questions will vary what is encouraged in the campaign.
My questions are:
- What did you learn?
- What did you discover?
- What are you proud of?
Here are some alternatives - What enemies did you beat?
- Which valuables did you recover?
- Who did you befriend?
- Have your players write or draw their answers into the notebook, the more important the archievement was to them the bigger they should write/draw the answer
- Whenever a page is filled progress
What I like about this method is that it allows your players influence what the game is about and at the same time it informs the GM what aspects of the game the players enjoy most.
In addition you get a notebook filled with a bunch of cool memories for evry campaign.
